A new painting, this one was created as a diptych. It is more impactful as a stand alone image so that is how I will keep it. I love the atmosphere and simplicity of this piece.

It has been many years since I have painted a diptych, now I have a few in the works. This is the largest piece at the moment. I have always planned on painting some huge diptychs but haven’t gotten to it… this is a start anyway.

A new painting on the easel for Labor Day weekend. Reflecting the seasons change, nothing stays the same. I believe I only have one more 18”x24” board left to paint on… such a fun size.

With summer quickly winding down I’ve got those mixed feelings that come with a shift in season. Visitors will begin dropping off and the weather will cool. It’s the passing of time that brings a bit of melancholy. The tiny bit of me that is optimistic is excited to dig deep in the studio. The cooler weather is much better for acrylic painting… perhaps the greatest work ahead.

This is one of my favorites from the lightning series I recently finished. Considering doing a much larger variation on this theme.

A small dramatic new painting. In this studio shot you can see some small jars with black lids. I use those to store key acrylic colors I premix when I paint. This is something I have done for decades. Now I use smaller jars and clean them out after use.

A new seascape on the easel today. I was thinking about Ukraine and the horror visited upon them. This world has a lot of darkness, I try to seek the light, it’s not always easy.

I just finished this new cloudscape painting. One of my favorite aspects of summer is hanging out on the deck watching clouds roll across the lake. it never grows old and always inspires.

Sometimes it’s nice to dive into a subject and paint a series. These boards had been hanging around since winter and the summer storms inspired the series. I might to a big take on one of these or maybe not.
