Inspiration from a gorgeous fall on Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho. It has been a warm and colorful autumn in my neck of the woods. A windstorm cleared out a lot of the leaves but I’m not done with them just yet.

Fall is a gorgeous time of year, also a bit melancholy. The color and lighting of the season is incredibly inspiring. It pulls me away from the work I was planning. More autumnal images to come.

We are blessed with sunshine and warm days this October in North Idaho. Snow and darkness is just around the corner so I am spending a lot of time hiking and kayaking. It has also inspired a new series of paintings!

A new atmospheric painting on the easel. I had prepared six 12” panels that are my current focus in the studio. Next week I will be moving on to some larger work.

Fall, entering the dark season. It brings some melancholy with the beauty. Chasing the vibe on some small panels.

I really dig this small painting. As an artist I am always chasing something intangible, some kind of magic. I can really feel it when it is there. I used to feel endless disappointment in my work, now I am really into what I do but it is the exceptional vibe I pursue.

This is one of my favorites from the lightning series I recently finished. Considering doing a much larger variation on this theme.

I just finished this new cloudscape painting. One of my favorite aspects of summer is hanging out on the deck watching clouds roll across the lake. it never grows old and always inspires.

A new painting, this one was completed over the weekend. Summer tends to get busy with visitors and all the distractions beautiful weather brings. I am trying to carve out as much time to paint as I am able. I always want to be in the studio, I feel restless and adrift when I am not.
