Water and light have always drawn me in. The endless shifting of shapes and colors has a meditative quality. Slowly you drift.
A Little Gold
A painting from December that I sold during my February solo show at Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, California. We returned from that trip in a night blizzard, white knuckles but it worked out!

Dear Diary
I find myself chasing ethereal beauty in my work. Trying to find that otherworldly magic that is impossible. Once in a while I catch a glimpse and it keeps me running.
Memories 14”x11”
Another highly atmospheric lake scene. An interesting challenge trying to suggest forest and water in the most delicate way.
Little Water
A couple small water studies, each 8″x10″. I always seem to come back to these meditative pieces.
I have been experimenting with some gel medium in the paint for a little thicker texture. It definitely changes the behavior of the paint in interesting ways. If the ratio of paint to medium is too high the dry color becomes a bit unpredictable, which isn’t a great thing!
Across the way
A painting I did over the weekend. Acrylic 10″x 10″ using a brush, knife and squeegee. I am aiming to let the simple marks stand and resonate. Sometimes simple work is surprisingly difficult to do. I want my paintings to have a fresh immediacy so my tendency to overwork and muddle is being shelved (in theory).
