I am pretty obsessed with light and atmosphere. This painting is inspired by countless mornings on the water. I say countless but I still have not spent nearly enough mornings like that. Sometimes it’s worth getting up.

This painting is mostly about the light. It does also have a regionally famous peak as its namesake. This lovely mountain is east of where I live in North Idaho. I can see the peak when I am out on Lake Pend Oreille.
Last year I took a small plane ride from Dover Bay that flew directly over the peak. At the summit a small herd of mountain goats were milling about. Now when I see Scotchman Peak I think about the goats.

Two shoreline paintings I recently finished. I took them outside to get a picture in the lovely autumn light.

This moody painting was one of my favorites last winter. It now resides in San Francisco.
Two small paintings headed to this pop up gallery in Genesis, Idaho. It is a fall show and some of my fire paintings were requested!

Today I dropped of ten paintings at the Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana.
A really nice contemporary art gallery in a fun Montana town. If you are in the area the gallery is definitely worth a visit. Always a beautiful mix of art on display. I am excited to have some of my work at Radius now!

The title of this painting is everything.
Hard to believe it is already the middle of October. The snow on the mountains and falling leaves certainly aren’t subtle reminders. I have been working on small paintings, experimenting and exploring. Now time is getting away from me so I have to get serious about my next solo show. I will be delivering work to Elliott Fouts Gallery in early January which seems soon!
Work in progress 12″x16″

Another painting inspired by Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho. This one has some lovely and subtle color transitions. I have found it difficult to get an accurate photo of the painting but this easel shot wasn’t bad.

The days are getting shorter but they have been incredibly beautiful.
