Playing around in the studio with light and summer water.

One of approximately 30 paintings that will be part of my solo show at Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado. I have been scrambling to get all of my work varnished, framed and ready to go. This will be my very best solo exhibit to date… also the last one I am going to take on for a while! Time to shift some new gears.

The boundless charm of nature. More inspiration from Lake Pend Oreille in North Idaho.

In my youth I was obsessed with Spaghetti Westerns. A massive part of the appeal was the amazing music of Ennio Morricone.
As an aging adult I still love the world the music conjures. Driving down an empty highway with that music playing makes me feel like a giddy antihero loving kid, R.I.P. Ennio.

Long summer days and the slow fade to night.

I took a little time over the weekend to paint a few small color studies. I am working out some thoughts for my next 20” x 20” painting.

Final capture of this piece I sold last week. Now I just need to sign it, varnish and frame the painting! I always postpone those final details… reluctant to commit to the permanence I suppose.

More inspiration from Lake Pend Oreille. These long days are my favorite.

A little island dream.
After a days work I shuffled off in my kayak. The landscape is always mind blowing. I realize all of my efforts toward beauty are nonsense.
