Atmosphere and light are always a source of inspiration. I am working on a number of paintings relating to the subtle shifts I am observing in North Idaho.

Weather systems moving across Lake Pend Oreille as Fall closes in. Intense sun and deep shadows the landscape always shifting.
The past two Thursdays I have revisited some paintings from last summer. These are each 24″x24″, I find TBT to be a bit of a lazy post but it is interesting to reflect on past work.

Art sales are always a good thing in my line of work but there is something especially thrilling about sending my work abroad. I have traveled a bit in my life but now my artwork resides in many places I have never been. It feels a little like writing my initials in wet concrete, “I was once in this world”.

This 14″x11″ painting was a commission. The buyer liked one of my older pieces that had already sold and wanted something similar. I don’t recreate past work but I was definitely interested in visiting this type of subtle moody landscape again. I had a lot of fun with it and we were both pleased with the finished piece.

This new painting pretty much named itself. A really powerful piece and one appropriate to the day.
As the summer gives way to fall I continue to paint smaller works. This painting is 11″x14″ acrylic/open acrylic on panel.
Delicate atmospherics above the big water. A subject that is always intriguing to me, keeps drawing me back.
A couple of small nocturnal paintings I have recently finished. This paintings are on 8″x10″ panels. I have worked up a small collection of four that I will post soon! I plan on doing some larger paintings with this late night vibe.
I have painted some small campfire paintings with the intention of eventually working on larger ones. Currently the largest boards I have prepped are 11″x14″ so I decided to paint some at that size. Just large enough to give me more freedom of movement!
I sold this one before I posted it on Instagram. The woman who purchased it saw it on my “story” which is a video limited to 24 hours. She lives in Kuwait, excited to be sending work to a country I have not mailed to previously!
