The last light and burst of color before the darkness. I am excited we are on the other side of the winter solstice. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

A newly completed painting on the easel! I am fascinated by light and atmosphere, the magic of nature. I am currently working on a few sunset paintings, stay tuned.

I am pretty fond of this piece. It is a really common subject for me but it is one I truly love. I am thankful I have time to spend painting, trying not to waste it.
There will be more unusual paintings in the near future as I work towards my March solo show. This painting will not be at that show. This one is bound for a gallery, not sure which one just yet.

Reflecting the season on Lake Pend Oreille, in North Idaho. The time change and darkening is always more than a little oppressive. The upside, very little distraction from precious studio time.
I am thankful for the rain we are getting this time of year, fire season behind us now. Soon the rain will turn to snow. The seasons have their charm.

I posted this painting a while back but wasn’t entirely happy with it. A bit more saturation and detail and now it is complete!

Painting time was pretty limited this summer. I focused on small paintings that I could finish in shorter work windows. I finally used my last small panel!

A new small painting completed this week. An ode to summer.

This moody stormy painting was always a favorite. It is available through Momentum Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina!

I am working on more small paintings. Squeezing in studio time into these busy summer days. These works will be headed to a number of “small works” exhibits this fall. I usually am rushing to finish small works in September/October but this year I will be ready!

A new painting in the studio. We have had some pretty spectacular sunsets of late. I was inspired to capture that ethereal fade of light.
I am preparing a lot of small boards and will be painting many small works this summer.
