Another atmospheric painting inspired by Lake Pend Oreille. This particular piece is 16″x16″, a pretty nice size to work on.

Baker City, art show
Last night was the opening for my solo show at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center in Baker City, Oregon.
It is always fun to see a lot of your work hanging together in a show! I believe I brought approximately 53 paintings to this particular show.
I gave a rambling art talk followed by a few questions. Then I hung around and talked to the kind hearted art patrons for a couple hours… now back to Idaho!
A walk through the pines

After setting up my art show in Baker City, Oregon I found myself with a free morning. I drove up to Phillips Reservoir and took an easy 4 mile hike.
A beautiful area with open meadows sprinkled with sagebrush. Forests of ponderosa pine, tamarack and fir trees. Stunning snow capped peaks and a lovely lake to top it off!
I rarely see bluebirds, they are beautiful elusive birds that love my kind of country. Today I saw dozens of bluebirds, an otter, eagles and hundreds of ground squirrels.
The Palouse Falls
I took a road trip down to Baker City yesterday afternoon. I took the long way because it looked like the more scenic route. I generally want to get from A to B as quickly as possible but the spring Palouse drew me in.
I knew I had been on the road before but it would have been years ago in my college days. I saw a sign for the Palouse Falls and impulsively extended the trip slightly more. It was worth the 4 mile detour! The Falls were roaring with the spring runoff. It was also the warmest weather I have seen since last September! Like being transported into a future/past summer.
