Snow today inside and outside of my studio. The sun is out and it’s a beautiful weekend.

I am a fan of visual transitions. The moment the sun slips away and the moon becomes the light. Long before the stars it hangs like a ghost.

A little inspiration from Hawaii. I went most of my life never visiting the islands but traveled there twice this year. Lately I have been fantasizing about retiring there… I probably won’t retire just fall over.

I am working on a couple large cloudscapes. I like brooding work that is both beautiful and a bit surreal. I think of these works as psychological paintings or dreamscapes.
Another small snow painting. This one from the deck of my studio which has far too much snow weight on it. I should have done more shoveling before it turned rock hard. I guess painting wins out on most of the projects I need to do.

I have just finished this large commission. I am not taking many commissions this year as I am focusing on my solo show work. Winter inspiration everywhere in the snow country I live in… half a foot more coming over the weekend.

This painting was sold through Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento four years ago. It was part of a big solo exhibit I had, first one to sell out. The show was in February and it took forever to come home with snow related flight cancellations and scary driving… aside from the travel it was a wonderful experience!

A large new painting in the studio this morning. Continuing work on these 24”x36” panels, great size with room to roam. Inspiration is from my home water, Lake Pend Oreille.

Another small painting exploring light and snow. I walked outside to take a photo in the actual snow but the day is beyond dark. The clouds must be stacked high above.

I will always paint, until I am gone. I have spent my entire life drawing and painting. It is what I do, not a hobby but real oxygen to lungs. Instagram provided me with my first major exposure but it is clear that it’s not an artists place anymore. If you want to see my work in the future this is the only guaranteed online place to see it.
