Madison Museum of Contemporary Art

A quick visit to the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. A really impressive building with a great rooftop sculpture garden though very limited number of sculptures. One interesting exhibit but other space was in transition so a bit limited. It was heavily damaged in the riots so it seemed to be in restoration mode.

On a trip to Madison, Wisconsin I have found some time to rest explore and see some great artwork. Wonderful collection at the Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin.

I was so excited to see an impressive collection of Beth Cavener sculptures. I have been a tremendous fan of hers for years and it was a surprise to stumble upon some of her more iconic pieces at the museum.

James May Gallery

I mounted three small water paintings I did for a water themed show at the James May Gallery. This gallery is in Algoma, Wisconsin, a beautiful part of the country. The town is in Door County, I have only been there one time but hope to go back! For now my paintings will be making the visit for me.

These three paintings are 10″x10″ acrylic/open acrylic on plexiglass. I am mounting them on deep cradled boards to give them a bigger presence!

Welcome to April!
