Burn Away

Burn Away – 24” x 18”, acrylic painting

I am pretty fond of this piece. It is a really common subject for me but it is one I truly love. I am thankful I have time to spend painting, trying not to waste it.

There will be more unusual paintings in the near future as I work towards my March solo show. This painting will not be at that show. This one is bound for a gallery, not sure which one just yet.

Autopilot

Autopilot – 8” x 10”, acrylic painting

I spent some time this weekend continuing my experimentation and exploration. I am always looking for something new, beautiful and intriguing. I don’t want to endlessly crank out “pretty pictures”. Even in my most tranquil scenes I always try to have something more soulful and meaningful. I had posted “wicked” as a video prior to this painting, someone messaged and asked “why are you wasting your time???”. My entire life is perhaps a waste of time viewed from that lofty vantage. Ultimately I am always following my enthusiasms and curiosities. Painting doesn’t make much sense in general but it is my passion and obsession!

Grand

Grand – 18” x 24”, acrylic painting

Another new painting in the studio today. This one has been in the works for a little while. I am very pleased with that big sky feeling of this piece. I am starting to get a solid collection of work in my studio. Unfortunately none of it really works with my upcoming March show… but I follow my passions so the show will reveal itself in time.

Small Works (Abend Gallery)

Four new works headed to Denver!

I varnished, framed and packed four new paintings. They are heading to Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado. They will be part of a small works exhibition, really pleased to be included. It is a great gallery, I had a solo show at the gallery in 2020.

In the studio

Shadow Season

Shadow Season – 18” x 18”, acrylic painting

I really love this painting, I will probably let it hang around the studio for a little while. The title and vibe precisely capture my feelings this time of year. The daylight dwindles and the temperature plummet. The studio feels extra isolated with the snowbirds long gone. It feels grim and a bit exciting. The studio is my haven, dig in and of course dig out.
