It seems like I always have a lot of “series of paintings” I want to work on. This is one I am going to boost up a bit higher in priority. A sort of heavenly view of the skies. Dreamy and a bit surreal or at least that is my thought today.
I painted this little study this morning. I am also prepping a bunch of larger panels to move forward with these paintings…
I find myself chasing ethereal beauty in my work. Trying to find that otherworldly magic that is impossible. Once in a while I catch a glimpse and it keeps me running.
Warm evening sun coloring giant clouds! I finished this one last week, one of those paintings that seemed to paint itself. I chose not to question it. I really like the blending and mark making in this piece.
Once again I find myself obsessed with clouds and skies. This painting kept changing and restarting. I probably destroyed 2 perfectly good works before finding my way here. Unusual colors and lighting won me over in the end!
Yesterday’s painting, it felt like a pretty good day in the studio.

Another cloud painting inspired by the low winter sun of the north! Pictured in progress on my studio table.
As winter’s dark slips into our daily lives I am feeling inspired by the changing atmosphere. The sun staying low creating dramatic light and shadow. I am also a fool for giant clouds crawling across the land. It seems I like my landscapes moody.
This moody painting was one of my favorites last winter. It now resides in San Francisco.
An atmospheric cloudscape I just completed. The sky is a constant source of inspiration to me!
