Sunsets and Endings

My solo show in Pendleton, Oregon is opening tomorrow at the Pendleton Center for the Arts. Besides all the varnishing, framing and packing I also spend some time trying to capture high resolution images of my newest work before sending them away. These are two 14″x11″ paintings that will be part of the exhibit!

Hidden

I just signed, varnished, framed and added a wire hanger to this 14″x11″ painting. I am going through the process of finalizing my latest collection of works for the next show. So many details go into each exhibit, well beyond the painting.

Next I will photograph everything and create a catalog of the works for the Pendleton Center for the Arts!

Commission

I wrapped up this large commission painting. It is being delivered to the new owners today! I hope that they will enjoy this tranquil piece for years to come.

The painting is 60″x22″ on a 3″ cradled board, so it is heavy. It is also surprisingly difficult to get a photograph of something this size without reflections or lighting issues. I ran out of time and simply had my Dad take a photo of me holding it!

Beneath the Surface

Two 11″x14″ paintings I wrapped up last night… well aside from varnishing, signing, framing 😳. They really look good together as an accidental diptych!

I often work two or three paintings of similar subject at a time. It keeps my focus narrowed and my paints can be shared between multiple paintings. I frequently make interesting discoveries and small creative jumps with this approach!
