Great Silence 12”x16” & Over Darkness 16”x20”

I am spending a lot of time framing and packing up art this weekend. It is not my favorite part of the job but it means work is selling which helps keep the lights on!

These two paintings are headed to Georgia!

Here is a link to Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana. Some of my work can be purchased with the link.

Emerging

Emerging 20”x16” paint on panel

Another new painting in the studio. This one is bound for Elliott Fouts Gallery, that hour glass is draining quickly! I need to deliver these paintings in early January.

Again I find myself focusing on filtered sun and a dramatic sky with this painting. I have some exciting plans that are just a bit of a departure from my typical work… stay tuned!

I also have some paintings available at a super cool gallery in Missoula. Check out the link!

Water in a Frame

Water in a Frame 7”x9” (SOLD)

A cool little painting from April. I was experimenting with framing options, this one worked well. Since then I have switched things up significantly. I am now painting on thicker wood panels and using a more minimal floating frame. Everything is always changing, hopefully evolving… it is good to pause and reflect at times.

Transitions

Transitions 18”x24” acrylic on wood panel

Transitions is a great title, it was the name of this painting also the name of my solo show last winter. The show was last March on Bainbridge Island at the Bainbridge Island Center for the Arts.

Visual transitions are critical to my work and their importance can’t be over stated. To me the use of paint, the way it is applied, is a driving force. Mark making and the flow of motion through a painting can make the most mundane intriguing. In life transitions can be terrible but I don’t live in the real world too often.

This painting was purchased by one of my very best friends. The best work rarely  gets back home.

Over Darkness

Over Darkness 12”x16” acrylic on wood panel

As winter’s dark slips into our daily lives I am feeling inspired by the changing atmosphere. The sun staying low creating dramatic light and shadow. I am also a fool for giant clouds crawling across the land. It seems I like my landscapes moody.

Day Dream

Day Dream 12”x16” acrylic on wood panel

This is a very airy and bright painting. The photo was taken on my studio table with some of the tools of the trade.

Inspired by low clouds that seem to form and disappear so quickly. The blinding sun tempered by mist. This is another meditative piece.
