This is another small painting (8″x8″). Reducing everything down to the simple basics of sunshine and water.
It is summer after all! There are only so many for each of us, word is less every year…
I have been planning a series of fog related paintings, this is the first one I have gotten to. Inspired by a really foggy day in the National Bison Range in Western Montana. That heavy atmosphere all but concealed the Bison but it sure was beautiful.
This painting is 16″x16″

Excuse the song title, it is a good one though!
Just for fun posting the most recent skull paintings together. Both 10″ x 10″ acrylic. Hopefully I will be back behind the brush soon!

Another skull painting, this one is 10″ x 10″ acrylic. This was based on a skull I have drug around with me for many decades. I released it to the forest when I was moving along with so many of my oddities and unused items that have accumulated over my life. I thought it fitting to do a final painting of it in the style I have been developing in recent months.
The acrylics are treated boldly with immediate mark making decisions. Trying to embrace the beauty of the paint letting the subject work as a framework for the color and gesture.
Where to go now? I am currently studying the nature out my back door and planning on treating it as an inspiration more than a direct subject. I am sure I will inevitably simply paint the landscapes that surround me but much like the use of paint I strive for something more. I think it is also important to work as much as possible without getting to “in my head” about what’s next. Forgive the ramblings, the middle of the night and terrible back pain leaves me thinking and far from doing.

This is the fifth painting in a little series of fish paintings. 10″x10″ acrylic paintings.
This one is particularly loose and free. I rather quickly developed some bold blends and marks and knew I could only muddle what I had… Knowing when to stop!
These are two acrylic paintings I did a number of years ago. The subject was a very basic white dress, an old wedding dress.
The surfaces are heavily textured with cracks and built up modeling paste. This is a method of painting I have left in the past. The results could be interesting and organic but chaotic!

I shipped off a little painting I sold through ugallery. A very fancy shipping box as you can see!

Here is the completed painting I started the other day. A wedding gift for some good friends!
This little acrylic painting completely slipped my mind. I found it while emptying a drawer in my studio. Kind of a fun surprise.
The work was done on a small piece of masonite. A thick layer of acrylic gel texture was built up and then painted over.
