I live on Lake Pend Oreille which makes me pretty fortunate. The lake is the largest and deepest lake in Idaho. Most important of all it is incredibly beautiful. I feel inspired and in awe of the beauty, it is my muse.

This little painting went to Abend Gallery a while back. I am busy working on a body of work for a Vashon Island Exhibit in October then switching to smaller works like this for a number of galleries.

I keep dwelling on the changing Season. Maybe it is the coming of Fall that has me playing with Fire.

Winter Light, 20”x24” acrylic
So hard to let the summer go. Each year I promise to make the very most of the season. Yet it has slipped away while I was pushing paint around. Winter is coming, I don’t hate it. The silent isolation is made for painting.

Summer Encapsulated, 10”x10” acrylic
A few small water pieces I recently completed.h

Summer,
Once again you made me your fool. All those warm days and late nights the sun barely resting. I tried so hard to keep you by my side.
Now you are off to some southern land. I laugh as you go but I will never forgive you. I prize my solitude and I will cling to the darkness. Maybe I will pine over an old photo of you this winter. In April a sparrow might spark a faint memory.
Damn, I just want you to come back.

This painting sold over the weekend at RiverSea Gallery in Astoria, Oregon. We also had some rainfall in North Idaho Saturday which I am thankful for! Wildfire season can be terribly Smokey so the occasional rain in the heat of August are a blessing.

Where has the summer gone? I am working on pieces for an October show and already dreading summers departure. Dig deep, that’s all there is to do.

We get some pretty dramatic storms in North Idaho. Lightning is always exciting if not a little terrifying. It has inspired imagery I have considered playing around with for a while… starting small with this one.

A painting sold this this spring through Robert Lange Studios. The studio/gallery represents some really talented artists and is located in Charleston, South Carolina.
