I love seeing the first light and last light of the day touch the mountain peaks. It is particularly beautiful when the mountains are capped with snow. They glow and are so inspiring and haunting.

Painting atmosphere and light is always a huge focus in my work. This new painting has a great bit of mood. Really nice size board to paint on as well.

The sky burns with the endless march of time.
A new cloudscape in the studio today. I love exploring light and motion. A cloudscape void of any landscape or anchors to the ground, such as mountains or trees, is intriguing to me.

A new small painting, finished in the studio today. I have been working on far too many paintings simultaneously so it was nice to step away and paint something small that could be finished relatively quickly.

I snuck off to the studio a bit over the weekend. This small cloudscape was the fruit of my efforts. I will start the week with a bit more time dedicated to the sky above.

Lake Pend Oreille has been a constant source of inspiration in my painting for nearly eight years. The shifting atmospherics through the seasons fills me with enthusiasm. The weather can be pretty rough but the studio stays warmish.

We are blessed with sunshine and warm days this October in North Idaho. Snow and darkness is just around the corner so I am spending a lot of time hiking and kayaking. It has also inspired a new series of paintings!

I sold this new painting! It is now varnished, framed and I just need to ship it! It is definitely helpful to have some private sales while I put together a couple collections of work for art galleries.

This is the first vertical diptych I have painted. Considering doing something along these lines on a massive scale, so many things to do…
