I thought I would share a WIP on this Friday morning. The smooth sparkle of the water is feeling pretty good here.
My solo show is ongoing at Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, CA. It will run the month of February.
I went down for the second Saturday art opening! It was fun to talk to art enthusiasts and buyers. It was a very successful show for the gallery and myself. So much work goes into such an event, you never know what will happen. I keep my mind focused on the art… it’s all there is to do.
As a painter I tend to be very solitary, in my own head. Funny how much I find myself talking at these shows…

Light and fluffy, it’s the way I like my pancakes. It is also an accurate description of this particular cloud painting. This one was a bit of a challenge to paint. I wanted to combine that brilliant floating feel with my sculpted mark making approach.

Melancholy and beauty, so often holding hands.
Two sunset paintings in a row! This week I will be posting some super heavy cloudscapes. So these are a peaceful pause before the storm.

I painted this over the weekend, just a final glaze this morning.
I am doing a little series of cloudscapes with the sun concealed but still very present.

A dream like painting inspired by Lake Pend Oreille, you know the usual!
I am now working on 16″x20″ & 18″x24″ boards. Time to make larger works for upcoming shows!

Another cloud painting inspired by the low winter sun of the north! Pictured in progress on my studio table.

I have painted some small campfire paintings with the intention of eventually working on larger ones. Currently the largest boards I have prepped are 11″x14″ so I decided to paint some at that size. Just large enough to give me more freedom of movement!
I sold this one before I posted it on Instagram. The woman who purchased it saw it on my “story” which is a video limited to 24 hours. She lives in Kuwait, excited to be sending work to a country I have not mailed to previously!
I had this deep cradled board in my studio for years and never used it. I found it recently when I was trying, once again, to clean the studio. It was really fun to work on such a vertical piece! The dimensions are 12″x24″.
