This summer I am busy working on some smaller paintings. Trying to find a balance of summer fun with family and friends and my studio obsession. Small works are a great way to explore ideas, the best ones will inspire larger paintings in the future.

As a bit of a reset I am currently painting some small boards ranging from the size of this painting to 12” x 16”. Once I have a bit of a collection I will switch back to larger format painting. Small paintings are a nice way to investigate ideas and techniques a bit more quickly. More to come!

Sometimes it’s nice to dive into a subject and paint a series. These boards had been hanging around since winter and the summer storms inspired the series. I might to a big take on one of these or maybe not.

A new painting, inspired by summer storms. We desperately need rain but it always tends to come with electricity!

Summer is so gorgeous in North Idaho on Lake Pend Oreille. It is a constant source of inspiration and excitement. I particularly like days when moody clouds drift across the lake. Summer is far to short.

I spent the morning framing and packing this new painting. It was purchased by a collector of my work that lives in Colorado. I had this one on a shelf in my studio, paintings I was planning to hold on to. I am pleased to send it to someone that loves it as much as I do.
I am loving these summer days at home. Some painting, swimming and boating. The season is short but I can’t stop painting and must lean into the splendor!!!

A new painting in celebration of summer light and the good things.
Excited to be back in the states and more importantly back in my studio. Painting is a solitary adventure I constantly crave.

I was pleased to hear that this painting was sold through Abend Gallery in Denver, Colorado. This painting is part of a “Landscape Painting” show I was invited to participate in.

This painting is now at Higher Art Gallery in Traverse City, Michigan. It is part of a group exhibit this summer. I was happy to be invited, managed to find the time.
