Open Spaces

A collection of four recent paintings. These are all 16″x16″ acrylic paintings on plexiglass. I have just switched over to a 24″ format and plan on painting a number of 36″ pieces as well. Ramping up for a show in January which no longer sounds very far off!

Revival

This little painting came together quickly and had a bit of magic in my mind. It is another 10″x10″ acrylic painting.

Now that I have been painting in the attic for a bit I have it somewhat organized. I am going to paint a half dozen more pieces this size and then move up to some larger works finally!

Dusk

This is is another small (6″x6″) acrylic painting. Playing with enigmatic atmosphere.

Yesterday evening I was driving through Spokane Washington. There are some terrible fires burning north of the city. Huge fires seem to be getting more common, and so terrible. I have to say the sunlight shining through the smoke was amazingly beautiful. I am sure this will influence some new works.

Three Paintings

IMG_9090

I finished these there paintings this week. I still need to sign them and mount hangers on the back but the art is done. They are all 18″ x 18″ acrylic paintings. I’m getting down to the wire for my solo show (it is the end of the month). I have a handful of additional paintings I am currently working on which may or may not make the cut… plus there are three paintings I’m really hoping to do before the show.

Which of these three paintings do you like the best?

Billowing my mind

Somewhere along the road I fell back into another painting habit, cloud scapes. Often the most simplistic image speaks to me the most.

I think this is probably the reason I still paint. You have fun making a mess and then there is a flash of magic. You can’t take credit for it because it can not be  reproduced. The brush was in your hand so…?  It is the mystery of life and everything unknown suddenly feeling fine.
