This is the second painting on a theme! I have plans to make some really large works in this series.
For now I must focus on my upcoming shows! Not sure if these will be included or not?!? Decisions still to be made!

I framed and shipped this painting to a new home. These days I have abandoned the notion of hanging onto art no matter how much I like it.
The people who purchased this painting loved it so much that they first purchased it as a print from http://www.minted.com and then decided they had to own the original! It is a great feeling sending work somewhere it will be cherished.
Two small paintings headed to this pop up gallery in Genesis, Idaho. It is a fall show and some of my fire paintings were requested!

A small fire painting, 8″x10″. Fire like water has a fascinating quality that really holds my attention. The hypnotic motion and the timeless nature of elements, I suppose, are part of their appeal.
I was planning on painting some larger fire images but here is another small one!
As the summer gives way to fall I continue to paint smaller works. This painting is 11″x14″ acrylic/open acrylic on panel.
I have been painting slightly larger fire paintings. This one is 14″x11″ so not very large but it gives me more room to play with the imagery.
I wanted to paint fire with wind blasting away at it, causing it to rage all the more. I really like the result but it does make me think of dragons.
I have painted some small campfire paintings with the intention of eventually working on larger ones. Currently the largest boards I have prepped are 11″x14″ so I decided to paint some at that size. Just large enough to give me more freedom of movement!
I sold this one before I posted it on Instagram. The woman who purchased it saw it on my “story” which is a video limited to 24 hours. She lives in Kuwait, excited to be sending work to a country I have not mailed to previously!
I had a small piece of board left over so I painted this little 6″x3″ painting. Inspired by the horrible wildfires of the Western United States and Canada.
It is so sad to see and smell the smoke this summer, seems to be worst every year. I read that the fire season in Idaho has grown by more than 70 days in the last 20 years. If there is a silver lining it can look very beautiful at least twice a day.
My collection of four campfire paintings. I sold one of these and thought I better get a “family” photo of them before I mail off the purchased piece. These paintings are all 8″x10″ plus the dimensions of the floating frames.
I am starting a large collection of small works (and writing a long letter on a short piece of paper). After so many exhibits this year I am resetting a bit and approaching my work in a little different way. I am always experimenting and exploring.

I have a list in my mind of summer images I want to paint. Campfires are very high on that list so I am painting a little series. These are both 8″x10″.

As I paint these the Sky is filled with smoke from so many forest fires in the west. I definitely prefer my fires contained.
