Inspired by the sun

Looking around the chaos of my studio it is plain to see light inspires me. As we head into the darkest part of the year the sunlight is all the more dramatic and inspirational.

These two paintings were worked up together after a very early morning on the lake. Spending time in the studio looking at your work and shuffling it around is time well spent. Nothing physically to show for it but it is valuable just to reflect.

New Start

New Start 12”x16” acrylic on panel

A colorful sunrise painting inspired by an early fall morning on Lake Pend Oreille.

I painted this in tandem with “Scotchman Peak”. I typically work on a series of paintings at the same time so they develop together. It keeps my focus narrowed and allows my color palette to be shared.

Here is to new beginnings!

The High and Low

The High and Low 16”x16”

This is a TBT, which I don’t condone but participate in purely out of hypocrisy.

To me this is emotion in acrylic paint, a work I genuinely love. Painting for paintings sake with no expectation or destination.

Today I am turning off my computer, blow out the candle.

Summer Moon

Summer Moon 16”x12”

I know summer is long gone but this title was stuck in my brain. Probably because I have listened to Cashmere by Led Zeppelin so many times in my life.

The magical quality of moonlight is undeniable. It has been a popular subject for centuries but I can not resist the gravitational pull.

I am doing a series of moonlight inspired works so more to come.

Radius Gallery

Today I dropped of ten paintings at the Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana.

A really nice contemporary art gallery in a fun Montana town. If you are in the area the gallery is definitely worth a visit. Always a beautiful mix of art on display. I am excited to have some of my work at Radius now!
