There is a lot more than painting involved in exhibits. I would prefer to stick with the painting but I like the bit of adventure involved as well.

This sunset painting is 9″x12″. I often do work that is subdued so it was exciting creating something with do much “heat”. This painting will be on it’s way to a show on Bainbridge Island in just over a week!

A small painting with a lot of light! This one is 8″x8″.
I have a show on Bainbridge Island to install at the end of the month. I am working on a collection for that exhibit. To soon to say what will make the cut!

This moody painting strives to capture some of the delicate light clouds capture when the skies turn dark. This particular painting is 16″x16″.

This 16″x16″ painting was part of the 27 painting collection I delivered yesterday. The solo show is in Longview, Wa at the Lower Columbia College. The exhibit will run from February 14th through March 14th.

I seem to be painting a lot of clouds these days. Giant powerful and full of mood they have always fascinated me so I am simply following my interests. This particular painting is 16″x16″ acrylic / open acrylic painting on cradled board.
As a painter I am striving to paint work that feels unique and new with a fresh vibrant use of color and mark making. The goal is a bit like shooting at the moon, I realize it is impossible but it doesn’t stop me. This particular painting is simple but encapsulates a lot of what I am striving for.

This 16″x16″ acrylic painting is fresh from yesterdays easel. I took a break from the work required for the two upcoming solo shows and just enjoyed the process of creating… it is after all everything.

I am excited to be mailing off more work to Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, California. I have been sending work there for more than a year now and it is nice to have another venue for my paintings.
I am doing a final coat of varnish on these paintings before I ship them to California. I have struggled over the years with the best way to seal my acrylic paintings. Acrylic tends to stick to acrylic so if you do not varnish the work you will end up with a mess at some point! I am currently using Liquitex professional high gloss varnish. So far I am very pleased as it dries quickly and creates a really nice protective layer!
