I am always dreaming of a better future. What we all have is today, I will spend it painting.

I am always dreaming of a better future. What we all have is today, I will spend it painting.

I new nocturnal painting on a square cradled 18” wood panel.
This one was painted using a limitation color palette, maximum mood. I use a limited palette always, primary colors plus magenta. They were mixed down to a narrow spectrum for this painting.

I love seeing the first light and last light of the day touch the mountain peaks. It is particularly beautiful when the mountains are capped with snow. They glow and are so inspiring and haunting.

Painting atmosphere and light is always a huge focus in my work. This new painting has a great bit of mood. Really nice size board to paint on as well.

The sky burns with the endless march of time.
A new cloudscape in the studio today. I love exploring light and motion. A cloudscape void of any landscape or anchors to the ground, such as mountains or trees, is intriguing to me.

I am working on a series of 18” moon paintings, this is the first in the collection. I named it “mountain moon”, it occurred to me later those words together sounded like a song… Flyin’ Shoes, great song by a legendary artist.
Townes Van Zandt – Flyin’ Shoes
Day’s full of rain
Sky’s coming down again
I get so tired
Of these same old blues
Same old song
Baby it won’t be long
‘Fore I’ll be tying on
My flyin’ shoes
Flyin’ shoes
‘Til I’ll be tying on
My flyin’ shoes
Spring only sighed
Summer had to be satisfied
Fall is a feeling
That I just can’t lose
I’d like to stay
Maybe watch a winter day
Turn the green water
To white and blue
Flyin’ shoes
Flyin’ shoes
‘Til I’ll be tying on
My flyin’ shoes
The mountain moon
Forever sets too soon
Being alone
Is all the hills can do
Alone and then
Her silver sails again
And they will follow in
Their flyin’ shoes
Flyin’ shoes
And they will follow in
Their flyin’ shoes

I was pleased to learn this painting was sold through Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana. It is a really beautiful contemporary art gallery, happy to have work available there!

A new painting on the easel. The days are gray and the snow is bring washed away with the rains. This painting is January.

I was happy to hear that this painting was sold through Momentum Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina. This is an amazing art gallery in a really cool artistic community.

Endless inspiration at the days conclusion. Nature in general is a constant source of enthusiasm, a precious well. I have prepared a number of 18” wood panels, more to come!
