Roaring 20”x16”

When I was a child there were two destinations, the Oregon coast and Wyoming. My Mom’s parents lived in Oregon, my Dad’s parents… you got it Wyoming!

I feel a real love and connection to both places. I am excited to have a show in Astoria, Oregon in June. So close to the coast you can see it from the Astoria Column. When you fill the gas tank at Safeway you hear sea lions barking and complaining about the fishermen. In July I will be going to the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming, the greatest place! Family will be at both destinations and I am excited about these adventures.

I now reside in Idaho, I seem to have split the difference between Oregon and Wyoming. I was thinking about these amazing places, the past and the unknowable future. What does today’s rambling blog have to do with this painting? Aside from the obvious coastal connection, everything.

Far Distance 12”x12”

This acrylic painting is one of three in a series. Yesterday I sold one of the set but the buyer agreed to let me bring it to the Astoria show, June 9th, which was great! I was not planning on another show so soon and had signed up for a bunch of commissions. I have too much to do but I am really thankful to have people interested in my work.

Sky Diving

When my father turned 80 he decided he wanted to go sky diving. Half way through that age he booked a jump when I was coming down to visit. My cousin Eric and I both decided to jump with him which was a big adventure for a Friday morning!

My sister wanted to go as well so now my Dad is going to jump again with her in two weeks! He makes 80 look pretty darn good.

Photos were taken by my Uncle Mike Wingert!

To the gallery

This is the latest selection of paintings making their way to the Elliot Fouts Gallery in Sacramento, California. This collection is made up of four 12”x9” paintings and one 16”x20” painting. All acrylic/open acrylic paint on cradled birch wood.

I have been sending work regularly to this California gallery and am happy now to have a solo show scheduled at the space for February 2019! I pushed off the date of the show so that I could add to my collection of work after my two remaining solo exhibitions this summer in Oregon (eastern and western).

It will be nice to have a California gallery display my work in the midst of another brooding NW winter. I am not sure if I will fly out for the opening but I plan on flying down with a large shipment of paintings as an early winter reprieve!

Bound for Italy

This 12″x9″ painting is on it’s way to Florence, Italy. A beautiful place haven’t been since I was young.

It is a busy week of packing up art and mailing it all over the country and world. Washington, California, Michigan, North Carolina, New York, England, and Italy. I feel really honored to have so much interest in my work.

One day soon I hope to be done with my day job so I can focus on the work I really love.

Selling “Transitions”

This weekend I took the big road trip to pack up my Bainbridge Island solo show. On my return I took the ferry across to Edmonds, Wa and dropped this painting off at its new home. This is Ryan holding the painting, one of my very best friends. He talked me into putting my art online, I was resistant for years! He also told me about WordPress and I started my Instagram account shortly there after (@bsostrom) on his recommendation. Thanks Ryan!
