The 24” square format is a pretty satisfying size to paint. Plenty of room for expression with a real sense of presence. I will definitely doing more work on these wood panels moving forward!
A new painting in the studio today. This large vertical painting captures the Lake Pend Oreille mood of late spring. I love watching the atmospheric qualities shift on the lake, it was the inspiration.

This is one of three paintings in the show on square 24” wood cradled board. I hadn’t painted panels this particular dimension since college which is an odd thing to realize.
The painting is inspired by the smoke filled skies that are far too common in Summer.
