I just completed this nocturnal painting. I have a growing collection of moon related art, most will be headed to the Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento in January!

This painting is shipping to England today!
I am spending a lot of time varnishing, framing and packing art. So much work goes into each painting, I need an unpaid assistant!

I framed and shipped this painting to a new home. These days I have abandoned the notion of hanging onto art no matter how much I like it.
The people who purchased this painting loved it so much that they first purchased it as a print from http://www.minted.com and then decided they had to own the original! It is a great feeling sending work somewhere it will be cherished.

Transitions is a great title, it was the name of this painting also the name of my solo show last winter. The show was last March on Bainbridge Island at the Bainbridge Island Center for the Arts.
Visual transitions are critical to my work and their importance can’t be over stated. To me the use of paint, the way it is applied, is a driving force. Mark making and the flow of motion through a painting can make the most mundane intriguing. In life transitions can be terrible but I don’t live in the real world too often.
This painting was purchased by one of my very best friends. The best work rarely gets back home.

As winter’s dark slips into our daily lives I am feeling inspired by the changing atmosphere. The sun staying low creating dramatic light and shadow. I am also a fool for giant clouds crawling across the land. It seems I like my landscapes moody.

This is a very airy and bright painting. The photo was taken on my studio table with some of the tools of the trade.
Inspired by low clouds that seem to form and disappear so quickly. The blinding sun tempered by mist. This is another meditative piece.

This painting is a glow with light. It has a really great feel that doesn’t entirely come across with the photographs I have taken. It will be headed to the Elliott Fouts Gallery for my next solo show. February 2nd-28th, 2019!

This is another painting inspired by mist and morning light.
I have been painting a lot of work this size lately. It has enough surface area to have a bit of freedom. I am going to start treating this as my minimum size. I have a lot of prepped 16″x20″, 18″x24″ and 20″x24″ panels I am excited to dive into next.
I am busy prepping work for a solo show in Sacramento at the Elliott Fouts Gallery. My studio counter is filling up, still so much to do!
I deliver the work in early January, which is sounding soon here in November!

This post seemed appropriate for Halloween. I finished this one up over the weekend. I am pretty obsessed with the mark making and expressive sky.
