A small painting I did as a commission. I am going to make some large moon related paintings so this was a nice warmup.
When the moon comes out in the winter it seems especially magic. The light is so limited in January.

Dark Thoughts
It is a stream darkly meandering.
Negativity eroding the shore.
Stay dry, the current is strong.

I often hear about Holiday depression. This year I seem to be feeling it. A terrible dread and sense of hopelessness. Perhaps it is a chemical thing. Maybe something to do with the sun failing to rise above the hill. I posted something regrettable last night on WordPress, I am sorry for that. I hope everyone is doing well this Holiday Season.

When the moon lights up the night it creates a magical otherworldly quality. The forest becomes such a mysterious and intriguing place. For all it’s beauty I can not recommend night hiking.

Christmas is rapidly closing in. I have all of my presents wrapped so I snuck over to the studio to do some framing. I have a lot of this sort of work to do at the beginning of 2019… I will split my time with painting. I get fidgety knowing I will be out of the studio a lot in the coming week!

I just completed this nocturnal painting. I have a growing collection of moon related art, most will be headed to the Elliott Fouts Gallery in Sacramento in January!

This painting is a glow with light. It has a really great feel that doesn’t entirely come across with the photographs I have taken. It will be headed to the Elliott Fouts Gallery for my next solo show. February 2nd-28th, 2019!

I continue painting some nocturnal imagery. I had painted one moon inspired landscape and decided that was enough. That night I saw the moon rise above the Cabinet Mountains and decided I could put some more paint to panel!

The moon has been pretty incredible this week on Lake Pend Oreille. I decided to do a little series, this is the second one!

I know summer is long gone but this title was stuck in my brain. Probably because I have listened to Cashmere by Led Zeppelin so many times in my life.
The magical quality of moonlight is undeniable. It has been a popular subject for centuries but I can not resist the gravitational pull.
I am doing a series of moonlight inspired works so more to come.
A couple of small nocturnal paintings I have recently finished. This paintings are on 8″x10″ panels. I have worked up a small collection of four that I will post soon! I plan on doing some larger paintings with this late night vibe.
