This is an older piece. An experiment in texture, color and paint application. The results were interesting but chaotic.

Sometimes I will do little abstract studies. I generally only reference them for color or interesting brushwork or mark making. This one stuck with me a bit. It led to a lot of other representational ideas but not sure they captured the simple allure of this.
This is an older painting, when blackbirds were a bit of a series. Once again I was building up heavy textured imagery.

This painting is a few years old. I was working in a very different way back then. Still focused on translucent acrylic colors but I was building up heavy translucent textures. The result was something that looked a lot like encaustic. I found too much time was spent waiting for heavy acrylic mediums and not enough time with a brush. Still there were some interesting results at times.

I put the hardware on this 20″x20″ acrylic painting.
This little acrylic painting completely slipped my mind. I found it while emptying a drawer in my studio. Kind of a fun surprise.
The work was done on a small piece of masonite. A thick layer of acrylic gel texture was built up and then painted over.

This is a 10″x10″ acrylic painting. I think I am pretty much finished with this particular painting. Minimalist landscape painting is intriguing to me, I hope to do a lot more work along these lines.

This is a small Acrylic painting I did a while back. An experiment in a heavily textured and translucent substrate.
