I have spent this week painting some small work. It is very satisfying finishing these little pieces so quickly, a bit of a break. I will be buying more small boards to work out ideas for larger paintings.

Continuing work on my small paintings this summer. Starting to get a real collection of these works. They are bound to grow come winter…

New painting in the studio this morning. I am continuing to work on small panels in my scattered summer days. When fall rolls around I will be working on large work based on my favorite ideas.

As a bit of a reset I am currently painting some small boards ranging from the size of this painting to 12” x 16”. Once I have a bit of a collection I will switch back to larger format painting. Small paintings are a nice way to investigate ideas and techniques a bit more quickly. More to come!

I have been painting some small winter scenes which have been a satisfying expression of the season. There is a lot of winter left, no doubt there will be more snowscapes.

We have been buried in snow for months with months to go. I enjoy the scenery but it can also be difficult… paying my respects to the winter.

These two paintings are now framed and available in Jackson, Wyoming at Horizon Fine Art Gallery!

I am shipping a few small pieces to Momentum Gallery in Asheville, North Carolina. These pieces were requested for a small works show. This time of year galleries are always looking for small paintings for Holiday Shows. I am sending small paintings to just two galleries this year.

A vibrant little painting from February of this year. I was painting a lot of color studies and smaller works. always a useful approach before working on larger paintings. A faster way to experiment with color, value, composition and concepts than a big panel. Of course in the end I just moved on without following many of these threads.

Working on a number of campfire images, this by far the smallest.
