Another moon related painting. This one had some interesting texture variations in the sky.

This was a self-portrait I did as an experiment. It is composed of 4 paintings on plexiglass of my mug from slightly different angles. The underlying paintings were done with warm translucent colors. The top most painting is the boldest with the darkest values. I stacked them all in a frame which created an intriguing result. There is a very physical depth between the paintings that gives it a real sense of volume.
I photographed it from different angles to give you an idea how the color shifts and the image changes.
This weekend I flew up to Ketchikan to help pack up the “Empty Spaces” show. It was a great experience in a beautiful location. The town has a very active and engaged artist community.
I sold six paintings and it is nice to know those pieces will be part of Alaska. Some of them will reside on the waterfront with views much superior to The my studio.
I hope to make it up to this country again.

A lot of my work tends to be autumnal. This one in particular seems appropriate for a Halloween post. The subject is a monkey skull in an old iPhone box. The juxtaposition seems to say it all.
