I have been painting some of the local colors I see on my early morning hikes. Now it seems that winter has snuck in. This morning I will see if the trail is treacherous. No doubt there will be some winter imagery in the future.

From high resolution scan, I am particularly fond of this one. I was planning on doing some really large paintings in this theme. I have derailed myself but it’s still on my mind.

A simple little water meditation.

My ongoing collection of small forest paintings. I am not taking the mornings for granted.

I started this painting just about a year ago. I decided it was time to finish it or prep the surface for a new painting. I ended up adding some wave detail and strengthening the contrast.

Another large painting in the works in my studio.

Another painting now at Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana. I have six pieces in the exhibit which will open November 7th, 2020.

This painting seemed like the perfect post for Halloween. Part of a series of dark tree imagery I created this year. I intended to paint some huge versions but the pandemic, fires and general apocalyptic vibe of the year dulled my enthusiasm… at least for now.

Winter came raging in though Fall is still at work. Time is short on hours, less this time of year. Monochromatic winter looms and palettes shift.

Two recent favorites now at Radius Gallery in Missoula, Montana. I sent them a collection of six. I would really love to checkout the gallery. They have built a beautiful new gallery in a great location.
With snow on the roads it’s better just to stay in the studio for now.
